A long time...

It has been a while since I've visited this place...

We are into the busy season, things are going so well,

so I thought I'd put a few pictures up on the blog!

 

The week behind us was an unforgettable week,

Oma Oudshoorn is in the hospital

slowly gaining her strength back, waiting for surgery.

It was a scary week and we hope the doctors

will be given the wisdom in the coming weeks.

Gotta love Oma cuddles...

 My not-so-little boy!

He has 2 teeth already and he can sit by himself!!

(but hasn't figured how to roll yet, really - he just has too many rolls to roll over!!)

 

 I try take my camera to Mom's whenever we are there

because we have a calendar in the making again

and can always use extra snapshots!!

A little explanation:

We had quite a long day last week and the kids were getting tired,

Cayden was camped out on the floor in the printer room and asked Cath

to lay beside him for a while.  I guess when he had the chicken pox

he had one between his toes so they would itch it for him...

Now they are asked to do it whenever he falls asleep because

he has fallen in love with 'wootie, wootie' between his toes!!

You are such a hoot, Cayden!!

 

Last week we celebrated Taycin's 2nd birthday!

Such a sweet, always happy chicky!!

Love you so much Taycin!

Taycin got spoiled from Chris and Richelle with this kitchen set!

What an awesome one!! (I want to be a kid again!!)

You're such a dear!!

Where to start with these two??

 

They are turning 23 today

and we really want to wish them a fabulous day

 

Derek, the guy with such a big heart,

who tends to try to 'cover-up' his soft side,

is spontaneous and happy go lucky!

He is the life of a party and quickly makes new friends:)

Quick to help out and lend a hand

is volunteer firefighter in Popkum

loves his nephews and nieces to bits!

He is an-all-around GREAT guy!

 

Today, he is spending his special day doing a full day first aid course

at the fire hall!

Corina, the shy one, has a heart of gold,

it may just take a while before she lets it shine out to you!

She is one fabulous sister and Auntie!!

She has been spending much more time here

lately in the last half a year

as she is working fulltime on the farm here with Ben....

We see her for lunch and she always stops by for

a quick kiss from Ranen and Owen on her way home!

She up for a good time, all the time!

(even if it seems nuts! well, really, her big sis

is pretty nuts so she might set you up with nutty things!)!!

She loves things clean and organized

and will express her opinion!

Corina is by far the sportiest of the sisters...

She excels at everything she puts her mind to!

Analogy

I have seen this analogy a few times...

and love it everytime that I read it

so I am going to share:

 

The Jar of Life and Two Beers

 

A professor standing in front of his philosophy class had several items in front of him.

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if they thought the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. Then he shook the jar lightly.

The pebbles rolled into the open spaces between the golf balls.

Then the professor again asked the students if the jar was full.

And again they agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of sand and proceeded to pour it into the jar.

As expected, the sand filled up the jar’s remaining space.

And once again the professor asked if the jar was full.

Once again, the students responded with a unanimous “Yes!”

The professor then produced two bottles of beers from under the table and poured their entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

“Now,” said the professor as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things — your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions — and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter — like your job, your house, and your car.

The sand represents everything else — the small stuff.

If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.

The same goes for life. If you spend all of your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. So pay attention to those things that are critical to your well-being.

Spend time with your children.

Spend time with your parents.

Visit your grandparents.

Take the time necessary to get your medical check-ups.

Take your spouse out to dinner.

Play another 18 holes of golf.

There will always be time to clean the house and to fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls — the things that really matter.

Set your priorities.

The rest is just sand.”

At this point one of the students raised her hand and asked, “What does the beer represent?”

The professor smiled and said, “I’m glad you asked. The beer just shows that no matter how full your life may be, there’s always room for a couple of beers with a friend!!!”
